  5. Missouri Death Certificates, 1910-1955
    Death certificates contain valuable information for family historians and researchers. The Missouri Death Certificate Database, containing death records created after 1910 and over 50 years old, makes that information available online through a searchable index that links to a digitized image of the original death certificate.

    The index can be searched by first name and last name, county, and by year and month. Once a name is selected, a digitized image of the original certificate can be retrieved.

    This is an ongoing project and additional records will be added as they are transcribed and imaged. If the image of the certificate is not yet available researchers can request a photocopy of the certificate by contacting the Archives Reference Desk . For death certificates less than 50 years old please contact the Missouri Bureau of Vital Records.

    <http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/birthdeath/> The Missouri Birth and Death Records Database is an abstract of the birth, stillbirth, and death records recorded before 1909 and that are available on microfilm at the Missouri State Archives.
    The Bureau of Vital Statistics <http://www.health.state.mo.us/BirthAndDeathRecords/BirthAndDeathRecords.html> has certificates of Missouri births from 1910 to the present. The Bureau also maintains certificates of Missouri deaths that are less than fifty years old. House Bill 1634 (2004) transferred all death records over fifty years old to the Missouri State Archives.
    Information found in this database includes:
    Births and Stillbirths : name of child, date and place of birth, sex, and race; nationality, residence, and ages of parents, occupation and full name of father, maiden name of mother, name and address of medical or other attendant making return; in case of stillbirth, name of undertaker and place of burial.
    Deaths : date of report, name, sex, color, age, occupation, marital status, nationality, birthplace; date, place, and cause of death; date and place of burial, addresses of undertaker, physician returning certificate.

    DEATH CERTIFICATES, 1904-[ongoing]
    DESCRIPTION: The Utah Office of Vital Records and Statistics began issuing death certificates in 1904. A death certificate is the permanent legal record of an individual's death. Each death certificate includes the decedent's full name, date of death, county where death occurred, decedent's race and gender, place and date of birth, marital status, occupation, permanent residence, place and date of burial, time of death, chief cause and contributory factors of death, and if applicable, where illness was contracted and duration of illness. Death certificates also include the names and birthplaces of parents. After 1919 death certificates indicated whether an autopsy had been performed and provided immediate surgical history prior to death. After 1935 state law required the inclusion of information about violent deaths, including accidents, homicides, and suicides. Certificates indicate whether death occurred at home, in a public place, or in the workplace. In 1940 the certificates began including Social Security numbers and information about the decedent's veteran status. Prior to 1910 permits relating to the transport of corpses were included with death certificates.
    PROCESSING NOTE: Utah death certificates were microfilmed in 1973 and archivally processed by M. Call in September 1998. Subsequent updates were done by M. Call, Rosemary Cundiff, and W. Glen Fairclough, Jr. In 2001, The Genealogical Society of Utah re-microfilmed death certificates for 1904-1951.   145. Greer-Marr Cemetery

    The Greer-Marr Cemetery is located about 6 miles south of Warrensburg, MO., on Highway 13 then 2 miles west to the George Sample farm, (85 SW 600 Rd). The Cemetery is on top of the hill behind the Sample home - overlooking the farm lands.A very large cedar tree marks the burial spot. It contains an acre or more of ground. The deed was given by George Parkerson Greer dated March 5, 1877.

    The date of the oldest monument is Sept 1, 1844. It marks the grave of Athaliah, wife of John Marr. The last burial was in 1946. Some of the stones are weather worn others broken and unable to read. There are many fieldstone markers and many sunken places indication unmarked graves. There are no records of Interments.The Greer-Marr Cemetery is well kept. Maintenance work and mowing being taken care of by Galen Marr (trustee), 404 E. Hale Lake Rd., Warrensburg, Mo.
